Charity MMA event in aid of British Heart Foundation

On June 24th a charity MMA event will be held in aid of the British heart Foundation.

ALL Proceeds will be going to the charity and fighters from Andy Roberts BJJ will be donating their services to this very worthy cause.

Christmas opening hours and new class!

You have all trained hard over the past year and deserve a break to relax and spend quality time with your loved ones.

The last classes of 2011 will be on Friday the 23rd December we will then re open fully on Tuesday 3rd January 2012.

In the new year we will introduce a Friday lunchtime session at 1pm to 2.30pm for all grades. The first one will be Friday 6th January.

Mauricio Gomes Big Class!

On TUESDAY 13th Dec, Mauricio Gomes, 8th degree red and black belt and Roger Gracie’s father will be taking a 2hr class for everyone!

6.30pm-8.30pm! this is a fantastic opportunity to train with one of only 6 people to receive a black belt from the legendary Rolls Gracie and the person who helped mould the greatest Jiu Jitsu fighter of all time!

There will be an extra charge of £15 for the class.

Medals at the English Open

Victory at ‘Into The Cage IV’

Gareth winsOn Saturday 8 academy members stepped into the cage and performed like true warriors.

Overall we had 5 wins and 3 losses but even in defeat the fighters put on a brilliant display of skill and courage.

A full report and photos will follow shortly but a quick breakdown of results are as follows:

Luke Kew lost a unanimous decision after 3 gruelling rounds.

Dave Garrett defeated his opponent by GnP in the first round (corner threw in the towel)

Scott Fereday lost a unanimous decision after a really close fight, don’t leave it in the hands of the judges!

Jack ‘Prince’ Harriott defeated his opponent by TKO at 1.43 of the very first round!!

Gareth Millar defeats his opponent by Rear Naked Choke in the 2nd round.

Ben Deller Smith defeats his opponent by rear naked choke at 1.57min of the first round.

Kieron Rice defeats his opponent by ref stoppage due to GnP in the 2nd round.

AJ Russell lost due to a guillotine choke in the first round after almost KOing his opponent, unlucky.

AJ to headline ‘Into the Cage’

Andy Roberts BJJ fighter AJ ‘Del Toro’ Russell will be headlining the next instalment  of  ’Into the Cage’!!

We also have Ben Deller Smith, Scott Fereday, Dave Garrett, Luke Kew, Gareth Millar, Mike Harvey Browne, Kieran Rice and Jack Harriott representing that night aswell.

FREE Women’s Self Defence Class – 17/12/11

On Saturday 17th December at 1pm the academy will be hosting a FREE women’s self defence class for all wives, girlfriends, sisters etc.

The class will cover awareness, how to diffuse potentially dangerous situations and how to deal with the most common attacks.

Medal’s for ARBJJ fighters at IBJJF

The Andy Roberts Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy competition team gave a monumental performance at the recent International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation Competition.
